Recycled plastic swimwear and activewear: A reprieve for the fashion industry
Ethical Edit is proud to be able to supply sustainable swimwear and activewear that is truly ethical – it’s created from fibre made from recycled plastic bottles. Millions and millions of them.
The horrifying fact is that billions of plastic bottles go into landfills around the globe every year, but now, finally, we can do something about recycling them – we can wear them! REPREVE® is the world’s leading, most trusted, branded performance fibre made from recycled materials (including plastic bottles), so it’s no wonder that we’re thrilled to source and produce it for our customers here at Ethical Edit – it’s right up our fashionable street.
Earth friendly. Ocean friendly. Body friendly.
REPREVE’S parent company, Unifi, transform recycled bottles into this amazing fibre, used by the world's leading brands to make fully sustainable swimwear, activewear and fashion apparel, just for starters.
Surprisingly reliable and durable, with features like wicking, comfort stretch, water repellency and quick-dry properties, REPREVE fabrics lend themselves to beautiful, high quality swimwear. Ethical Edit has a long-standing and reliable REPREVE supplier in China, which means we can supply our clients with a wide range of these high quality fabrics.
REPREVE is about more than recycling wasteful materials (although that’s amazing), its makers are also looking at the bigger environmental picture. Unifi’s manufacturing process emits fewer greenhouse gases than making virgin fibre, offsets the use of new petroleum, and conserves water and energy in the process. So far, they’ve recycled over 14 billion plastic bottles and they’re aiming for 20 million bottles by 2020.
Unifi ... we love your ethical stance and we looking forward to sharing your incredible recycled fibre fabrics with Australians and New Zealanders!
